This fugue was completed under the commission of my colleague from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Mr. Xu Zhengnan. It is a fugue that is quite traditional in style. In terms of compositional technique, I employed relatively conservative principles, but in terms of the overall structure and tonal arrangement of the fugue, it represents a breakthrough compared to Bach’s fugues.
